Whale and Dolphin Conservation
Don't go to the show
Shortlisted concepts for a 'One Minute Briefs' creative competitions with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation charity.
The brief objective was to create posters sited at airports, to deter UK holidaymakers from going to see captive whale and dolphin shows when travelling abroad. Communicating that keeping whales and dolphins in tanks or sea pens for human entertainment is wrong. That they are too intelligent, emotionally complex, social, mobile, and too big to be confined. Cetecean have shorter life spans in captivity than in the wild and suffer ill physical and mental health in captivity. There have been no captive whales or dolphins for over 30 years in the UK. So the charity wanted to discourage support of such cruelty whilst away on holiday too.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation
Save the whale, save the world
Shortlisted concepts for another 'One Minute Briefs' creative competitions with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation charity. This time the brief was to create posters that celebrate whales as icons of the environmental movement and powerful symbols of our need to restore the ocean. Supporting the WDC's mission to save the whale, save the world.
My concept used the insight that most people are aware of the environmental impact that trees have on our world. However, lesser known is the fact that the Ocean absorbs more CO2 emissions than all the trees in the rainforest combined. Or that whales can also store 33 tons of carbon dioxide in their bodies over their lifetime. Just like trees in a Rainforest store carbon in their trunks.
These visuals show that whales play an enormous role in the preservation of our planet. Making whales our biggest allies in the fight against climate change.
